
FORT APACHE CINEMA TEATRO
OUT OF PRISON

Fort Apache it has been constituted in January 2014 from the will of Valentina Esposito, author and director, committed for over 13 years in the theatrical activities inside the Rebibbia N.C. jail in Rome.

The project involves professional actors and former prisoners or prisoners under alternative measures (partial freedom, custody to community services, custody in prevention centers of drug abuse, home detention etc..), whom started a path of professionalization and integration in the show business, participating to many theatrical, television and cinematographic productions (among the others "Cesare deve morire" signed by the Taviani bros., "Non essere cattivo" by Claudio Caligari, "Suburra" by Stefano Sollima, "Asino Vola" by Marcello Fonte, "Ombre della sera" written and directed by Valentina Esposito): Fabio Albanese, Alessandro Bernardini, Matteo Cateni, Chiara Cavalieri, Christian Cavorso, Viola Centi, Massimiliano De Rossi, Massimo Di Stefano, Michele Fantilli, Marcello Fonte, Alessandro Forcinelli, Gabriella Indolfi, Giulio Maroncelli, Romolo Napolitano, Piero Piccinin, Giancarlo Porcacchia, Fabio Rizzuto, Edoardo Timmi, Cristina Vagnoli.

Unique experience in Italy, Fort Apache is the only theatre company composed by former prisoners and prisoners under alternative measures, permanent shelter structure for who has been released, a place of continuation on the path started inside the jail of provenance, point of reference in the delicate transition between reclusion and freedom (also in terms of relapse and prevention of reoffending behaviors), place of formation and specialization in performing arts, preparatory for the social and professional reintegration.​

​Fort Apache workshop, since 2014, is part of the Research and Formations Projects linked to La Sapienza University of Rome and is headquartered inside the Department of Art History and Performing Arts (ex Vetrerie Sciarra, Via dei Volsci RM).

The group already realized "Tempo binario" (2016-2017), "Famiglia" (2018-2020), "Non-Human Destination" (2021. Winner of the 2022 National Visionaries Award), "Ash Wednesday" (2024) and two documentary film - "Ombre della sera" - (extraordinary participation of Pippo Delbono), movie recognized as cultural interest by the Minister of the Heritage and the Cultural Activities, with the Patronage of the Justice Ministry and Lazio’s Regional Council, with the contribute of Lazio Region, Cinema and Audiovisual fund, Venice Gap-Financing Market, ​ 71th Venice International Film Festival 2014.
